Zelensky called on Western countries to ban all Russians from entering their territory

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called on Western countries to ban all Russian citizens from entering their territory.

In a statement to the Washington Post, Zelensky said: “The most important sanctions are the closing of the borders because the Russians are taking over land that belongs to others… so they have to live in their own world until they change their philosophy.”

Zelensky considered that this measure should apply even to Russians who left the country in protest against the actions of the Russian authorities.

“Whoever the Russians are… send them to Russia,” he added, noting the need to hold “all residents” in Russia accountable.

He explained that “these residents have chosen this government and they are not fighting or arguing with it.”

He called the existing sanctions “weak” compared to closing the borders to Russians for one year and imposing a complete ban on the purchase of Russian fuel.
