The White House said that President Joe Biden, during telephone conversations with Chinese President Xi Jinping, did not mention setting a ceiling on the price of Russian oil.
“The issue of setting a price for Russian oil was not raised in any way during the conversation between the two leaders,” a senior US administration official said.
Earlier, Biden said that the establishment of a price ceiling for Russian oil would allow the United States to reduce fuel prices in the country.
For his part, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak confirmed that Russia will not export oil to world markets at prices that the West will set for itself, even if it causes losses.
