US State Department: NATO has no aggressive intentions against Russia

The US State Department said that NATO has no aggressive intentions towards Russia, commenting on the statement by the Secretary of the Russian Security Council that considering Russia as an enemy leads to destabilization of security in Europe.

In response to a statement by Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev, a US State Department spokesman said that “NATO is a defensive alliance that poses no threat to any country and has no aggressive intentions against Russia.” .”

Earlier, during the latest Madrid summit, NATO adopted a new strategy until 2030, which considered Russia “the biggest direct threat to security.”

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said the talks on security guarantees showed that NATO and the US showed no desire to take Russia’s legitimate interests into account.

At the same time, NATO is concentrating a large number of its forces eastward near the border with Russia and says that the new strategic concept of the alliance does not mean that it seeks confrontation and does not threaten Russia, but rather “enhances its ability to deter it.”
