Two Turkish soldiers killed in clashes with PKK

The Turkish Interior Ministry reported the killing of two Turkish soldiers and the wounding of a third during clashes with militants of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in the southeast of the country.

A ministry statement on Thursday said Turkish forces and Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) militants clashed in Diyarbakir state as part of security operation Arn 18, Anatolia news agency reported.

The department said that as a result of the clashes, 3 servicemen were injured, who were taken to the hospital, where two of them later died from their injuries.

The ministry confirmed that Turkish security forces continue their operation in the region to track down the remnants of the militants.

The Interior Ministry launched a series of ARN operations against the PKK, which Ankara considers a terrorist organization, in January 2021.
