The Minister of Economics of Germany explained the reason for the failure of gas negotiations with Qatar

After the failure of negotiations with Qatar on the supply of liquefied natural gas to Germany, German Economy Minister Robert Habeck explained the failure with Doha’s pricing policy and indicated that there were proposals from other suppliers.

“Companies are actively working in the market and are looking for the best deals. That’s the only way they work. And if Qatar does not make the best offer, companies will not make a mistake and choose the most expensive offer, which happened. .”

The German minister added: “This does not mean the end of negotiations with Qatar, as an energy partnership (with Doha) has been concluded,” referring to his trip to Doha.

Regarding the prospects for the gas market, the minister expected LNG supplies to be increased in the next four to five years and said: “For a large market that is currently in high demand, within four or five years … so it can to benefit from a larger group of liquefied gas supplies to Germany.”

Earlier media reported that Germany’s attempts to negotiate gas access with Qatar were unsuccessful, adding that Italy would receive Qatari gas.
