Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shukri said at a press conference with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov that both sides stressed the need for diplomatic dialogue for a ceasefire and a political solution to the Ukrainian crisis.
The Egyptian minister pointed out that this crisis has negatively affected food and energy security around the world and led to the disruption of supply chains.
At the talks in Cairo, the ministers also discussed regional issues, in particular the situation in Iraq, Libya, Palestine and Syria.
The parties also discussed bilateral relations and the implementation of joint projects, especially in the economic sphere: “We have a history of multi-vector relations, and we look forward to further cooperation based on mutual interests and respect for norms.” Shukri said.
