Schultz: sanctions against Russia are effective

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz called the sanctions against Russia “effective”, adding that they are an important way to put pressure on Moscow to end the conflict in Ukraine.

“Western sanctions are effective and correct,” Schultz said in a statement to the Magdeburger Volkssteme newspaper.

He added that Russia is “isolated from global technological progress. The longer this goes on, the greater the damage to Russia.”

He stressed that “we cannot talk” about Germany’s withdrawal from the group of countries that support Ukraine.

And he felt that Europe’s “strong and cohesive response” was “unexpected” by Russian President Vladimir Putin, and according to Scholz, he didn’t expect it.
