Saint-Germain agreed to sign Mokele from Leipzig

French side Paris Saint-Germain and German side Leipzig have reached an agreement on the transfer of the French national team defender Nordi Mukele to the Parisian club, a source close to the negotiations said.

Both parties entered into a definitive deal, not a credit deal with a call option as mentioned at the beginning.

The 24-year-old remains to undergo a scheduled medical examination before signing a contract with Saint-Germain.

The arrival of Mokele, who made his first steps at FC Paris before moving to Laval, Montpellier and then Leipzig in 2018, will allow the Qatar-owned Parisian club to get additional decisions on the right arcade where the Moroccan national team Ashraf plays Hakimi.

Mokele can also play in a three-man defense, the system favored by new Paris coach Christophe Galtier, who replaced Mauricio Pochettino.

Mokele is the third player to join the French champions in this summer’s transfer market, after Portuguese midfielder Vytina from Porto and young French striker Hugo Eketiki (20) from Rennes.

Mokele helped Leipzig finish runners-up to German champions in 2021 and win the cup last season, and also shone on the European stage, reaching the semi-finals of the 2020 Champions League and the 2022 Europa League competition.
