The head of the Servant of the People faction in the Verkhovna Rada, David Arakhamia, said that Alexei Reznikov would leave the post of defense minister, and the current head of military intelligence, Kirill Budanov, would take his place.
Arakhamia added that Reznikov will head the Ministry of Strategic Production of Ukraine, which is currently headed by Pavel Ryabkin.
“Within the framework of the government, Alexei Reznikov will move to the post of Minister of Strategic Industries to strengthen military-industrial cooperation,” Arakhamia wrote on his Telegram channel.
He added: “The Ministry of Defense will be headed by Kirill Budanov, which is quite logical in wartime.”
Rumors about the possibility of Reznikov’s resignation in connection with a corruption scandal in the Ministry of Defense arose after the publication in the newspaper of an investigation into the supply of food to the army at inflated prices.
Deputy Defense Minister Vyacheslav Shapovalov and Deputy Director of the Public Procurement Department Bogdan Khmelnitsky were forced to resign and charged with corruption and obstruction of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
