Record Set by Istanbul Airport Due to Europa League Final Match

Yesterday, Saturday, Istanbul International Airport set a record for the number of flights timed to coincide with the final match of the European Champions League, which was hosted by the city.

And via Twitter, Turkey’s General Directorate of Civil Aviation said there were 1,594 flights between landing and takeoff at Istanbul Airport on Saturday alone.

She added that this is a record number since the airport was put into operation at the end of 2018.

She pointed out that the intensity of these flights was directly affected by the final match of the European Champions League, which was attended by Manchester City (England) and Inter (Italy).

She explained that Istanbul International Airport receives planes from around the world with fans of the English and Italian teams on board.
