Today, Friday, the German judiciary sentenced a former army officer accused of planning a far-right attack and impersonating a Syrian refugee to five and a half years in prison.
“The accused is guilty of planning an act of serious violence that endangers national security,” said Frankfurt Court President Judge Christoph Köhler.
Defendant Franco Albrecht, 33, a father of three, has been on trial since May 2021 at the Higher District Court in the western city of Frankfurt. Among his potential targets were ministers, parliamentarians and a well-known Jewish human rights activist.
