How did the Arabs react to Borrell’s statements? "Europe is a garden and the world is a jungle."?

Although several days have passed since the statement of the Commissioner for Security and Foreign Affairs of the European Union, Josep Borrell, who compared Europe to a garden and the world to a jungle, his statement still provokes interaction through communication sites.

Borrell’s statement outraged a large number of Arab Twitter users, with one replying, “The truth is that Europe has become a garden because it has been plundering the jungle for centuries.”

Another thought that this statement was not absurd, and that Europe was thinking of “invading again for resources.”

Another said: “…This winter, without Russian gas, your garden will turn into blocks of ice.”

And the tweeter wrote: “…a garden will not protect itself from the invasion of the forest by building walls around it … but by opening up to the forest!!”.

Borrell said in a statement last Thursday that “Europe is a garden, we have built a garden, the best combination of political freedom, economic prosperity and social cohesion that mankind has been able to build, but the rest of the world is not exactly a garden, the rest of the world … most of the rest of the world is jungle.”

He added: “The bushes can invade the garden and gardeners should take care of it, but they will not protect the garden by building fences, a beautiful small garden surrounded by high fences to prevent the growth of the bush will not be a solution because the bush has a huge capacity to growth, and fences, no matter how high, cannot protect the garden, gardeners must go into the bushes, Europeans must be more connected with the rest of the world, otherwise the rest of the world will invade Europe.”

In response, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned Emil Poulsen, acting head of the European Union’s mission to the country, and demanded a written explanation of Borrell’s “harmful and racist” statements.

Qatari Minister of State Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari felt that Borrell’s statement “expresses racism, imbalance, civilized and useless bankruptcy”.
