High Prices Force Closure of Over a Thousand Pubs Across Britain in 2022

On Sunday, the Daily Mail reported that by the end of 2022, more than a thousand pubs in the UK had been forced to close due to rising costs of living in the country.

According to the newspaper: the number of pubs closed last year in Britain is twice as many as in 2021, despite restrictions imposed at the time due to the coronavirus. Most of the pubs (98) in London have been confirmed to have closed. According to the British Beer and Pub Association, there were 47.2 thousand drinking establishments in the country in 2019.

According to official figures: In February, inflation in the UK was 10.4 percent year on year. The National Statistics Office of Britain justifies the increase in electricity tariffs as a result of the war of sanctions between the West and the Russian Federation due to the conflict in Ukraine as the main factor in rising prices in the country.
