Fox News scandal leads to surprising departure, leaving Trump shocked

Former US President Donald Trump said he was “shocked” by the sudden departure of controversial host Tucker Carlson from Fox News.

Trump added in a TV interview, “I was shocked… I was surprised.”

Trump called Carlson a “very nice guy” and praised the former Fox host’s “high ratings” for being “great … especially in the last year or so.”

The former boss indicated that he was unaware of the circumstances of Carlson’s departure, saying “I don’t know if it was voluntary or if someone fired him”, adding that the former boss could have left “because he was not given freedom action.”

Fox News announced Carlson’s sudden and unexpected departure from her without any explanation on Monday. Carlson did not mention his departure on his last prime-time show, which aired Friday, suggesting the move took him by surprise.

The network also advertised Carlson’s upcoming interview with Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy late Monday morning. This was reported by sources familiar with the situation.

The Wall Street Journal reported that Carlson was fired and that the decision to fire him was made by Fox News CEO Susan Scott and Fox CEO Lachlan Murdoch on Friday.

Several Republican lawmakers, including Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Col.), Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wisconsin), Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio), and Representative Thomas Massey (R-Kentucky), expressed support Carlson and said that his departure is a huge loss for Fox News.

He had earlier scathingly attacked Trump, his successor Joe Biden, calling him “the most corrupt president in American history.”

Biden officially launched his presidential re-election campaign on Tuesday, calling on Americans to help him “get the job done.”

Trump accused Biden of bringing the United States “to the brink of World War III” and also allowing “millions of illegals” who Trump claims are “coming out of prisons and psychiatric hospitals and endangering America’s security.”

“Our currency is collapsing and the dollar will no longer be the world standard, which will be our biggest defeat in over 200 years,” Trump tweeted.
