Azerbaijani President Aliyev sets target to double gas supplies to Europe by 2027

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said that by 2027 his country will double the supply of natural gas to Europe.

Today, Tuesday, Aliyev said: “By 2027, we plan to double the supply of natural gas. Today gas from Azerbaijan is supplied to Georgia, Turkey, Bulgaria and Italy, and supplies to Romania will begin this year.”

He added: “If all gas pipelines work successfully, then by the end of this year, gas will be supplied to Hungary and Slovakia, and we hope that we will be able to pump Azerbaijani gas to not 6, but 10 European countries during the year. near future.”

Aliyev’s statement was made during his participation in the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding and joint cooperation between the operators of gas transmission systems, namely the Bulgarian Bulgartransgaz, the Romanian Transgaz, the Hungarian FGSZ, the Slovak Eustream and the Azerbaijani state oil company. SOCAR”.

This document has been prepared as part of a joint solidarity initiative to improve the safety and supply of natural gas to the European Union.

Aliyev said: “This initiative is an important step in the diversification of energy supplies, and the memorandum signed today will guarantee security and increase the volume of Azerbaijani gas supplies to more European countries.”

It should be noted that Bulgarian President Rumen Radev attended the opening of the office of the Azerbaijani state oil company SOCAR in the Bulgarian capital of Sofia.
