European industrial associations call for lifting the ban on the import of Russian aluminum

Five European industrial associations called on the European Union to lift the ban on the import of Russian aluminum.

According to Reuters, the initiative was supported by the European Federation of Aluminum Consumers (FACE), the German Federal Association for the Promotion of Economic Development and Foreign Economic Relations (BWA), the National Association of Italian Sanitary Ware Manufacturers (Amafond), the Italian Association of Steel Manufacturers (Assofermet) and the Italian Association of Casters (Assofond ) and warned that such restrictions could lead to the closure of thousands of European companies.

According to the associations, those who call for action against Russian metal are either major competitors or enjoy supply options that are not available to the vast majority of the European aluminum industry.
