Egypt seeks European assistance in expanding its markets, despite borrowing an idea from Cairo

Egyptian Supply Minister Ali Al-Moseli announced Egypt’s intention to create markets similar to those in one of the European countries, “Italy”.

Al-Moseli, as a spokesman for the Egyptian government, indicated at the General Assembly of the Global Farmers Market Alliance currently taking place in the Italian capital of Rome from 20 to 22 May that his visit to one-day markets in Italy paved the way for discussing the creation of these markets in Egypt, adding that they will cooperate with the Italian side in implementing the same idea in the development of one-day markets that exist in all parts of Egypt, as well as supporting the creation of wholesale markets, indicating that the implementation will be supported by the Italian government and the European Union.

There are two most famous one day markets in Egypt, the Friday market and the Tuesday market, as these markets were widespread in Egypt at an earlier time in many cities, but nowadays they are limited to these two markets, the most famous. including the Friday market, founded by the province of Cairo in the Citadel area and called the market. The bathroom then became the marketplace for everything.

And in Egypt, there were very valuable markets, such as the “Tuesday market in the city of Giza, the camel market in Imbaba, the market on Fridays in the Citadel and the market for animal products from birds in Al Sinblouin”, the idea of which was stolen by European countries and realized, so Egypt would like to return it to their supervision, according to a previous article published in the Egyptian newspaper Al-Ahram.
