The US State Department said that Secretary of State Anthony Blinken held telephone conversations with his Saudi counterpart Faisal bin Farhan, during which he reaffirmed Washington’s commitment to working with Riyadh to end hostilities in Sudan.
“Secretary Blinken expressed the gratitude of the United States to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the invaluable assistance it provided in ensuring the safe arrival of Americans and their families from Sudan to Jeddah,” the State Department press release said.
Regarding the situation in Yemen, the statement said: “The US Secretary of State stressed his commitment to advancing an inclusive political process in Yemen, led by the Yemenis themselves, so that they can determine the future of their country.”
The parties also discussed priorities in the regional and international arenas, including cooperation within the framework of the international coalition against the terrorist organization ISIS.
