Egypt to Construct First-Ever Unique Medical City in the Country

The head of the General Directorate of Hospitals and Educational Institutions under the Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population, Mohamed Mustafa Abdel Ghaffar, announced the prime minister’s approval in principle for the establishment of a new medical campus.

He added that a proposal was made to the Council of Ministers on the establishment of the city after the approval of the development of the Heart Institute, explaining that while the location of the medical town has not been determined, but it will be located in the Administrative Capital or its environs, that is, within Greater Cairo.

He noted that the goal of creating a medical campus is to gather in one place all the medical, research and educational experience in all medical specialties.

He said that gathering medical human resources in one place allows everyone to benefit, whether it is the level of medical care and its availability for patients, or, for example, that an anesthesiologist takes experience in all medical specialties, and not an anesthetist just for ophthalmology, women or heart.

He emphasized that there are many goals that the medical city will achieve, namely therapeutic and educational goals in all disciplines, in addition to scientific research.
