Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban compared the European Commission’s intention to set a ceiling on Russian gas prices to a bar visitor who wants to set the price of beer himself.
“The European Commission’s proposal to cap gas prices is like walking into a bar and telling the bartender you want to pay half the cost of your beer. It will not happen. Consumers cannot lower energy prices. Only diversification and competition can,” Orban tweeted.
The Hungarian prime minister previously confirmed that the EU’s plan to cap the price of Russian gas is economic suicide for the Union, noting that it would not help Ukraine.
