White House strategic communications coordinator John Kirby said that Washington does not consider it necessary to impose visa restrictions on all Russians as a punishment for Russia’s “actions” in Ukraine.
“We have introduced visa restrictions for a certain class of Russians,” Kirby said. “We believe that this is a tool that helps to hold regime supporters accountable. But we do not think that holding all Russians accountable is a productive measure. We believe that it is not we must fight the entire Russian people. Blame the Russian people here.”
Recently, in a number of Western countries there have been increasing calls to stop issuing visas and to ban all Russians from entering Europe.
