West Ham sign Italian Emerson from Chelsea

West Ham Football Club announced on Tuesday the signing of Chelsea’s Italian left-back Emerson Palmieri on a four-year deal.

“The 28-year-old has joined the Hammers on a four-year contract with an option for a further year at an undisclosed cost coming from Chelsea,” the London club said in a statement.

Reports indicated that the deal was worth £15 million.

The Brazilian-born player, who came to Italy in 2014 and received citizenship, has struggled to establish himself for five years at Chelsea after arriving from Rome in 2018 after three years in the Italian capital and was on loan last season with Lyon. France.

Emerson played 27 international matches and won the European Cup with Italy last year at the expense of England in the final.

Emerson was the seventh deal this summer for Scottish coach David Moyes’ team, which are experiencing their worst league start in 51 years after losing their first three games and bottom of the league table.
