Washington and London weigh in on the latest developments in Sudan

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken called the situation in Sudan “unsustainable” and the British Embassy in Khartoum said it was closely monitoring developments.

Commenting on the clashes between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces that erupted today, Saturday, in several areas of the capital Khartoum, the Minister of Foreign Affairs said in a press statement during his visit to Vietnam that “the main Parties in Khartoum reached a very important framework agreement a few weeks ago about how to move forward.

He stated: “The situation is unstable and there are other actors that may hinder this progress, but this is a real opportunity to move forward in the transition to civilian leadership, and this is an opportunity that we and other countries are trying to use. amplify.”

In the same context, the British Embassy in Sudan advised its citizens to stay indoors and said it was “closely monitoring the situation in Khartoum and other areas where clashes are taking place”.
