Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic thanked the Russian Foreign Ministry for supporting Belgrade during the recent crisis over northern Kosovo.

In a televised address last night after a meeting at the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, Vučić thanked “those who supported Serbia”, especially Josep Borrell, the European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, as well as the staff of the US Embassy.

“I want to especially thank the representatives of the Russian Foreign Ministry, who understood exactly what was happening, and their reaction was very correct,” he added.

Earlier, Russia called on the authorities of Kosovo, Washington and the European Union to stop provocations and respect left-wing Serbs in the separatist region.

And the authorities in Pristina announced at dawn on Monday that they were postponing the implementation of a law to replace car numbers and personal documents issued in Serbia by a month, after a call to US Ambassador Jeffrey Hovener led to a détente. in the region after protests by the Serbian population living in the north of the region and the mobilization of Kosovo security forces there and along the administrative line separating it from Serbia.
