US State Department seeks to dissolve Wagner group and extradite Prigozhin to the United States

The US State Department said Washington would like to see the Russian military group Wagner disbanded and its founder Yevgeny Prigozhin handed over to the US.

US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said at a press conference on Monday: “We would like to see the decision of the Wagner group.”

He added that Washington will seek to extradite Prigozhin to him if he arrives on the territory of any country with which the United States has an agreement on an exchange on the wanted list.

Miller said on this occasion: “We do not have an extradition agreement with either Russia or Belarus … but I expect that we will try to hold him accountable if he appears in a country with which we have an extradition agreement” .

It is noteworthy that the United States imposed sanctions against Yevgeny Prigozhin and the Wagner private military company, as the US authorities accused them of interfering in US elections.

Washington also classified the Wagner group as an international criminal organization.
