US general urges Kyiv to help strike Russian depths

Retired American General Mark Arnold urged his country and NATO to give Kyiv permission and provide Kyiv with the necessary weapons to strike deep into Russia.

Arnold described the West’s demand that Kyiv not use its weapons against Russian territory as a “fatal strategic error”, noting that “the United States of America and its allies must provide Ukraine with weapons that will allow it to strike at Russian territory,” and continued: “I I’m not talking about Crimea here. I’m talking about hundreds of kilometers deep into Russia.”

The general suggested that NATO change its policy and abandon proposals to ban strikes on Russian territory, explaining that it considers it necessary to transfer Patriot air defense systems and HIMARS long-range missiles for HIMARS launchers, as well as combat aircraft and drones to Ukraine.

The United States provided Kyiv with HIMARS rocket launchers on the condition that Ukraine would not use them to launch strikes on Russian territory, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, for his part, reaffirmed his commitment to this condition. At the same time, Verkhovna Rada deputy Igor Chernev did not rule out the possibility of launching missile strikes on Russian territory with American weapons.

For his part, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, commenting on Zelensky’s statements, said that Russia does not trust the Ukrainian side, since it has not fulfilled any of its promises to peacefully resolve the conflict in Donbass.
