US condemns attack on Russian embassy in Kabul

The US State Department condemned the terrorist attack on the Russian embassy in the Afghan capital Kabul.

The US State Department said in a statement that the attack on the Russian embassy in Kabul was “senseless violence.”

And the Russian Foreign Ministry said that two of its employees of the Russian embassy in Kabul were killed in an explosion at its gates on Monday morning.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres condemned the attack “without reservation”.

Foreign Minister of the Taliban government in Afghanistan Amir Khan Muttaki also expressed his condolences to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in connection with the victims of the attack. Mottaki confirmed that a thorough investigation into the incident would be carried out.

The terrorist organization ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack and said the suicide bomber blew himself up at the gates of the Russian embassy as an employee approached people in line for visas.
