Upcoming Visit from Director of International Atomic Energy Agency to Russia

The Italian Foreign Ministry said that the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency Rafael Grossi will visit Moscow in the coming days after a telephone conversation between the Italian Foreign Minister and Grossi.

And Italy’s foreign ministry said in a statement on Sunday: “Foreign Minister Antonio Tagani confirmed that the Italian government supports the mission that Grossi will undertake in the coming days to Moscow.”

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said last Thursday that Russia had conveyed to the International Atomic Energy Agency its vision on how the safe zone around the Zaporozhye NPP should work, and that it was in constant contact with Director General Rafael Grossi.

“We have our own preferences and our own vision of how the safe zone should be created and how it should function, including on the issue of the role of the IAEA and its employees in this entire process,” Ryabkov said. and handed it over to Grossi and his staff.”

Ryabkov added: “In general, the same concept is being developed, the same idea (of a safe zone) … What is being proposed today is different from what was proposed before. We are in constant contact with Grossi both through his trips to Russia and, of course, through our permanent representation. “In Vienna, we all work as long as we need to work.”

Zaporozhye NPP is located on the left bank of the Dnieper, near the city of Energodar, is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe in terms of the number of units and installed capacity and includes six power units with a capacity of 1 gigawatt each, and since March 2022 the plant has been under the protection of Russian forces.

The Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed that this move was justified in order to avoid leakage of nuclear and radioactive materials, while the Ukrainian army repeatedly shelled the city of Energodar and the area adjacent to the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said that the Kiev regime is trying to create the appearance of a threat of a nuclear catastrophe by continuing to deliberately bomb the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.
