Uncovering Tragic Discoveries: Bodies of Undocumented Immigrants Unearthed at US-Canada Border

The CBC reported, citing Canadian police, that at least six people, including a child, were killed while trying to illegally cross the border between Canada and the United States by boat.

On Thursday, the channel reported that six bodies, including a three-year-old child, were recovered from the St. Lawrence River at the intersection of the Canadian provinces of Quebec and Ontario.

The police suggested that “the dead must be members of two families, one from India and the other from Romania.”

She explained: “Currently, in addition to the 30-year-old citizen, they are looking for another child in the Akvesasne reserve.”

Akwesasne police said the victims came from Romania and India and were trying to enter the United States illegally.

She added: “One of the bodies belonged to a child under the age of three with a Canadian passport, and another child of Romanian origin has not yet been found.”

According to the relatives of the missing resident of the reserve, he was last seen getting into his small boat on Wednesday, while the boat had already been found, with scratches on the bottom that could have been caused by a collision with stones or ice.

Authorities have yet to comment on the possibility that what happened was an attempt to smuggle people into the United States.

“Obviously there are a lot of questions that need to be answered, but we are not going to answer various speculations related to this,” Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau told reporters.
