Ukrainian footballer punished due to female referee’s decision

The Control and Disciplinary Committee of the Football Federation of Ukraine decided to disqualify for six months the player of the Zhytomyr club “Polesie” Vadym Chervak in connection with his decision to pay a fine.

Polisi players demanded a penalty in the final minutes of the match after one of them fell in the opponent’s penalty area, Metalurh Zaporozhye, but the referee Sofia Principa denied the penalty, and player Vadim Chervak pushed the 24-year-old referee from behind.

“The Football Federation strongly condemns any manifestations of inadequate and discriminatory behavior of football subjects in relation to match officials,” the statement posted on the official website of the Ukrainian Football Union says.

The player Vadim Chervak has the right to appeal this decision to the Appeals Commission of the Ukrainian Football Union.
