Ukrainian Ambassador to Washington asks the US Treasury to impose sanctions against Russian private banks

Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States Oksana Markarova said she had submitted a request to the US Treasury to include all Russian private banks in the US sanctions list.

“Ukraine is calling on the administration of President Joe Biden to impose sanctions on all private Russian banks,” Bloomberg quoted the ambassador as saying.

Markarova also said in an interview with the agency that Kyiv wants the US to add two banks a week to the sanctions list.

Western countries have imposed sanctions against the Russian Federation because of the special operation in Ukraine.

In this regard, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the policy of containing and weakening Russia is a long-term strategy for the West, and sanctions have dealt a serious blow to the entire global economy.

As for the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov, he said that sooner or later the Western countries should change their minds, as they are pragmatic and rude, and when they realize that sanctions are hitting them, they will come to a dialogue. with Russia more constructively.
