The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has given the Egyptian Olympic team a big shock over the Under-23 Africa Cup of Nations to be held in Morocco from November 2 to 26, 2023.
The Egyptian national team will not directly participate in the final of the next tournament as the title holder and will enter the qualifying tournaments, which may be exempted from participating in its first stage, according to the Koura website.
A source from CAF explained, “If 14 teams participate in the qualifiers, then the qualifiers will go through one stage, and if 28 teams participate, they will go through two stages.”
He continued, “But if there are 28 to 56 teams participating, the qualifiers will be played in three stages, because the tournament is played with only 7 teams, along with the national team of the host country.”
A few days ago, the Tunisian Football Association announced that 39 teams had confirmed their participation in the qualifying matches, and in an official statement, the Carthage Eagles Olympic team was exempted from participation in the first stage of qualification.
