Ukraine asks to prevent Russia from qualifying for Euro 2024

Andriy Pavelko, President of the Ukrainian Football Association, called on UEFA to prevent Russia from qualifying for Euro 2024 qualifiers.

The European and international federations have banned the participation of all Russian teams at the team and club level in the championships of the two federations until further notice.

As for the Euro 2024 qualifiers, the draw will take place on October 9 next year, and Pavelko appears determined to exclude Russia from the draw.

“UEFA’s decision only applies to official competitions, allowing Russia to host friendly matches, but the Ukrainian federation will immediately respond to any such attempts,” Pavelko said in a statement.

“Recently, we have asked FIFA and UEFA to cancel the match between Russia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is scheduled for November 19,” he added.

He continued: “We turned to the Bosnian Federation in solidarity with the world civilized football community and refused to host this match.”

The Russian national football team returns to the field of international matches after two non-match international breaks to play two friendly matches with the national teams of Kyrgyzstan and Iran.

The match against Kyrgyzstan is scheduled for September 24 in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, at the Dolon Umurzakov Stadium.

The Russian Bear team will meet their Iranian counterpart next November.
