UK.. Petition to stop paying electricity bills

More than 100,000 Britons have signed a petition calling for high electricity bills to be avoided to protest rising prices as inflation tops 10% for the first time in 40 years.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has urged electric and gas companies to take practical steps to help families unable to pay their bills as the fall and winter seasons approach.

According to the information, Minister of Finance and Treasury Nazim Zahavi met with representatives of these companies, without disclosing the content of the meeting and whether any decisions or decisions were reached on this matter.

It is notable that in Britain such rules are passed through the Internet and social media platforms, if they exceed the threshold of 100,000 people, Parliament is forced to hold a debate in response to this popular will.

This petition comes amid political and economic concerns in the United Kingdom, as in many Western countries, in light of fears that inflation will reach 13 to 15% by the end of this year.

In addition, home electricity and gas companies do not know how they will react to this new development, or what is known as “civil disobedience”, while the Johnson government is almost paralyzed at a time when the search for a new premier the minister is underway and the opposition parties are presenting their vision of how to deal with this crisis.
