Turkey suspends social media following Istanbul attack

Our correspondent in Turkey reported that major social networks have been shut down in Turkey amid a bomb blast in Istanbul that killed 6 people and injured dozens.

The reporter confirmed that the main social networks (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tik Tok) and others were blocked in Turkey for several hours by the decision of the Turkish authorities.

He added that the reason for his stop was to prevent the publication of materials related to the terrorist attack in Istanbul.

Six people were killed and more than 80 were injured in an explosion that rocked the tourist street of Taksim in Istanbul.

Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay said the attack was carried out by a woman and authorities released a photo of the suspect.
