Turkey sent notes to Sweden and Finland demanding the extradition of members of terrorist organizations

Turkish Justice Minister Bekir Bozdag said Wednesday that his country had sent written notes to Sweden and Finland demanding the extradition of members of terrorist organizations.

The Turkish minister said that Ankara has demanded, for example, the extradition of representatives of the PKK and FETO, which it accuses of attempting a coup in 2016.

Earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said his country is demanding the extradition of 73 terrorists, mostly from Sweden, but has so far received “only three or four of them.”

It is noteworthy that on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Madrid, the foreign ministers of Turkey, Sweden and Finland signed a memorandum removing obstacles for Finland and Sweden to join NATO. The document provides for the establishment of cooperation with Ankara in the fight against terrorism, especially with regard to the PKK, which Turkey considers a terrorist organization with all its branches.
