Brazilian coach Marcos Paqueta arrives in the Syrian capital of Damascus today, Wednesday, ahead of tomorrow’s meeting with the Syrian Football Association in preparation for signing a contract with him as technical director of the national team.

The Brazilian coach will replace local coach Gassan Maatuk.

The head of the Syrian federation, Salah Ramadan, confirmed that the 64-year-old Brazilian coach Paquet is the best among the coaches contacted, led by Englishman Alan Pardew, a former Newcastle United manager, but negotiations stalled. due to the difficult requirements of the English coach, who stipulated the management of the team from Dubai and Beirut, which was categorically rejected by the Syrian Football Association.

His task will be to coach the first team and guide all other national teams in all its categories.

The Brazilian coach Paqueta has a good biography, and one of his most important achievements is the victory in the World Cup as part of the Brazil U20 and U17 teams.
