Turkey Holds Hope for Peace in Ukraine’s War, Says Cavusoglu

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said: “His country is the hope for peace in the Russian-Ukrainian war.”

And he added on his Twitter account yesterday, on Saturday, that Turkey was able to conclude an agreement with the United Nations on the delivery of grain through the Black Sea and prevented a global food crisis.

In his tweet, Cavusoglu referred to the efforts made by Ankara since the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian crisis in order to find a solution and a ceasefire.

He explained that after Turkey held the first meeting of Russian and Ukrainian foreign ministers in Antalya state, it was also able to hold another meeting in Istanbul, which was attended by two delegations from the two countries.

He underlined the progress made by Turkey in securing the conclusion of an agreement on the transport of grain through the Black Sea in cooperation with the UN.

He also pointed to Turkey’s role in reaching an agreement on the exchange of prisoners between Russia and Ukraine.

Cavusoglu concluded his tweet by confirming Turkey’s commitment to comply with all provisions of the Montreux Sea Straits Agreement.
