Trabzon Club’s Initial Response to Spitting Incident Involving Egyptian Player Trezeguet

The Trabzonspor club condemned the incident of spitting at their Egyptian player Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet during the match which the team lost 1-3 to Fenerbahçe in the Turkish Football League.

Trabzon published a photograph of Fenerbahce player Samet Akaydin spits on Trezeguet, who prostrated himself in front of him in celebration of his team’s first goal, and wrote: “This is disgusting. We strongly condemn the immoral act against our player Trezeguet during our match against Fenerbahce.”

“It is a shameful act when Fenerbahce player Samet Akaydin took turns spitting at our player as he prostrated himself to celebrate a goal,” the statement said.

He continued: “We expect the responsible authorities to respond to Samet Akaydin’s behavior and call on the Turkish Federation to take urgent action, including Fenerbahçe itself.”

“We call on the sports community to work together to restore sport based on friendship, love and respect, to renounce aggression and indecent acts, and to protect the true values ​​​​of football,” the statement said.
