The UN is working on the return of Russian fertilizers and food products to world markets

Farhan Haq, Deputy Spokesman for the United Nations Secretary-General, confirmed that the United Nations is continuing its efforts to bring Russian food and fertilizer back to world markets.

“As UN Secretary-General António Guterres stated, it is important to ensure unimpeded access of food and fertilizers from Russia to world markets, as well as cooperation for this between the country’s authorities and the private sector. We continue to work in this direction,” said Haq.

Guterres, at a meeting with Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu on July 22 in Istanbul, signed a memorandum of understanding to facilitate the supply of Russian agricultural products and fertilizers to world markets. Its mission is to ensure transparent and unimpeded supplies of Russian food and fertilizer products, including raw materials for their production, to world markets. The term of the note is three years.
