The Turkish lira hits a fresh record low

The Turkish currency continued to decline today, on Monday, and touched the mark of 26 liras per dollar, thus fixing a historical low.

And by 16:09 Moscow time, the dollar rose by 2.60% to 25.8911 pounds, according to Bloomberg data.

Prior to this, the Turkish currency fixed the level of 25.97 lira per dollar, which is the lowest level recorded by the Turkish currency in its history.

The Turkish currency has been falling since last Thursday after the Turkish Central Bank decided to raise its main interest rate, the first time in more than two years that the interest rate was raised from 8.5% to 15%, and the decision came well below expectations, as economists expected the index to rise to 20%, and some expected 40%.
