The Transformation of Russia’s External Debt: A Comparison between 2006 and Present

The Central Bank of Russia said today, Thursday, that Russia’s external debt has decreased since the beginning of the current 2023 by $33 billion, or 8.7%.

According to the Russian regulator (Central Bank of Russia), Russia’s external debt reached $347.7 billion as of July 1, 2023.

The Central Bank of the Russian Federation pointed out that Russia’s external debt in 2006 was at the level of $313.2 billion, and in the first quarter of 2007 it rose to $355.6 billion.

External debt is part of a country’s total debt to creditors outside the country, and the debtor can be a government, a financial institution, or an individual.
