The Taliban said today, Thursday, that they have no information about the presence of the leader of Al-Qaeda, Ayman al-Zawahiri, who died in a US airstrike in Kabul, in Afghanistan.
The Taliban said in a statement that “the leadership of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has instructed the security services to conduct a thorough and serious investigation into the incident.”
On August 2, US President Joe Biden announced the assassination of al-Zawahiri last Saturday in a CIA drone air raid in the Afghan capital of Kabul.
The Afghan Taliban government condemned the US raid and considered it a clear violation of the country’s sovereignty, international law and the Doha agreement.
