The Minister of Energy of Russia commented on the proposal to set a price ceiling for Russian energy resources

Russian Energy Minister Nikolai Shulginov ruled out that his country would accept the idea of Western countries limiting prices for Russian energy resources, stressing that Moscow would not sell oil and gas at a loss or below their cost.

He said in a TV interview today, Sunday: “Of course, we will not sell (something) at a loss or below cost. It’s impossible. This is a kind of cartel plot against us. treated in this way.

The leaders of the G7 countries (Great Britain, Germany, Italy, Canada, USA, France and Japan) confirmed at the June summit their determination to reduce energy dependence on Russia and agreed in principle to start capping Russian oil and gas prices. .

In September, the G7 reaffirmed its determination to cap Russian oil prices as part of the expansion of sanctions. The restriction of oil prices is planned to be introduced from December 5, and the price of petroleum products – from February 5, 2023.

It is noteworthy that last Friday the EU countries failed to agree on setting a price ceiling for Russian gas.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin warned that the introduction of a ceiling on prices for gas exported from Russia is futile and is a step that will lead to higher prices for blue fuel in the markets.
