Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp has revealed the reason for the Reds’ exit from the 1/8 finals of the League Cup.
The Liverpool team lost to their hosts Manchester City (2:3) in a match that brought them together last night, Thursday, at the Al Ittihad Stadium.
Klopp criticized in statements after the Sky Sports network meeting the refusal to use VAR video assistant referee technology in this competition, stating: “We have the technology (VAR), the referees are familiar with (VAR), the technology is there, why don’t we do not use?”

And the German continued his objection: “I understand that there was no technology in the first rounds, but this is a City match against Liverpool, so why is the technology not used?”
It is noteworthy that the VAR video technology for arbitration in the Carabao Cup is not used, except with the start of the semi-finals, after adjustments that have occurred in the season (2019-2020).
Of his team’s performance, Klopp said: “We played like we hadn’t played in a long time and we had to change a lot in the last training session. We needed time to adapt.”
He added: “In the first 15 minutes we had real problems and it blew our confidence and faith a bit. The goals we scored were completely unnecessary.”
And the German coach continued: “We had good periods and could have scored more goals.. This is a result we have to live with now. It was a tight match for both teams, which is normal.. We had a good match, but he didn’t was good.” Enough to beat City tonight.”
Klopp said: “It says something, but not everything. We can do a lot before we play the next matches and that’s what we’ll be doing.”
Manchester City will face Southampton in the quarter-finals of the League Cup.
