The Central Bank of Egypt announced that the annual inflation rate of the core consumer price index in August 2022 was 16.7%, compared to 15.6% in July 2022.
The central bank said the monthly inflation rate reached 0.6 percent at the end of August 2022, compared to a negative reading of 0.3 percent in the same month of the previous year and a monthly rate of 1.5 percent in July 2022.
The general consumer price index in cities, announced by the Central Agency for Population Mobilization and Statistics on September 8, 2022, recorded a monthly rate of 0.9% in August 2022 compared to 0.1% in the same month of the previous year and a monthly rate of 1.3 % in July 2022.
Thus, the annual headline inflation rate was 14.6% in August 2022 compared to 13.6% in July 2022.
