Texas Gov. Greg Abbott announced that the state has formed a special border unit associated with the National Guard to prevent illegal immigration.
Abbott held a press conference at the airport, from where US Border Patrol planes and helicopters will fly to the most vulnerable sections of the border with Mexico.
“They will be deployed in the most difficult areas of the border to intercept, repel and return immigrants trying to enter Texas illegally,” he said. “We have seen a number of examples where the National Guard has taken on such tasks, but we will change such actions throughout the operation.” .
He added that the new divisions are equipped with everything necessary to effectively solve the tasks.
“This includes aircraft, boats, night vision and riot control equipment,” he continued.
