The Sun newspaper published a photo of resigned British Prime Minister Boris Johnson showing off his “pectorals” on a remote beach in Greece, as he urged G7 leaders to do two months ago.
The newspaper published topless pictures of Johnson while on holiday in Greece, where locals were surprised to see the prime minister in a place so remote that few people know about. Johnson was seen like this almost two months after he called on the G7 leaders to “take off their clothes to show their chest muscles that they are stronger than Putin.” Johnson sat down at the table and asked if he would take off his jacket, and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau responded by telling him to wait until the official photo was taken.
Russian President Vladimir Putin later remarked that the scene would have looked “disgusting”.
Boris Johnson’s joke comes from a famous photograph of Putin on horseback during a trip to Tuva, topless to the waist, in August 2009, when he was Russia’s prime minister.
