Strong start for Atlético Madrid in the new league season

Atlético Madrid kicked off their new Spanish Football League season with a big win away from Getafe 3-0 in a match that brought them together on Monday night.

Roja Blancos’ Alvaro Morata scored two goals in a row for him in the 15th and 59th minutes, while his colleague, French striker Antoine Griezmann, scored the third goal in the 75th minute of the meeting.

Notably, Alvaro Morata, 29, returned to Atlético Madrid earlier this season from Juventus after playing in his shirt on loan for the past two seasons.

Morata has scored his first goal from outside the box in all competitions since December 2016, according to the Opta Statistical Network.

The network reported that Álvaro Morata’s last goal from outside the penalty area was scored in a Real Madrid shirt and hit the net against Deportivo La Coruña.
