The US Treasury has imposed a ban on the import of gold from Russia as part of Western sanctions that are imposed against Russia under the pretext of a special military currency of Ukraine.
Restrictions begin to be introduced from today, June 28, 2022, but they do not apply to gold previously exported from Russia.
Earlier, experts ruled out that the ban on the purchase of Russian gold by the G7 countries, including the United States, would affect gold producers in Russia.
Russia is one of the largest exporters of gold in the world, and according to Russian customs, at the end of 2021, Russia exported about 302 tons of the precious metal, worth $17.36 billion.
And last Sunday, US President Joe Biden announced that the United States and the G7 countries would ban the import of Russian gold.
